Dancing up a storm!

Here we are learning how to do hip hop today:

Today in Maths we have been learning about Capacity. We had to put water in a cup and either fill it half full, full, almost full, nearly empty or empty. 
We also arranged the cups in order from biggest to smallest! 

Rat-a-tat-tat!

Our big book last week was 'Rat-a-tat-tat'. On Friday we took photos of ourselves to make pop-up cards about the book 'Rat-a-tat-tat'. Here is some scary photos of us in disguise:

Harold and the Life Education Bus - Take 2

On Wednesday we went back to the Life Education Bus to learn more about eating a VARIETY of food to give us ENERGY. We had to pack a lunchbox of healthy food. We did a fantastic job. Look inside our lunchbox and see what we packed:

Then we packed Harold a picnic basket and did a lot of dancing. The Kowhai kids had a blast!

The Wacky World of Science - Wednesday, Take 2

What happens when you add milk to a bowel, dishwashing liquid and then stir it up with food colouring?

You get a rainbow is what the Kowhai kids found out....

Step One: Add milk to a bowel.
Step Two: Add some dishwashing liquid.
Step Three: Put in some drops of food colouring - we put in four different colours!
Step Four: Mix it up with a toothpick.

This first picture shows the swirls that you can make - if you keep mixing it will eventually go brown. The orange dish was our first one we did as a class. We didn't add any dishwashing liquid so we could see what would happen. We mixed red and yellow - when we stirred them together it went orange straight away.

Harold and the LIfe Education Bus - Healthy Eating

Yesterday we went in the Life Education Bus with Pippa and Harold to learn about healthy eating. We got to do some really cool things like watch a movie about Harold in 3D. We wore glasses to help us see the movie. We also sorted out food into three groups - what we would eat for breakfast, lunch and tea. This is so we have a VARIETY of food to give us ENERGY. We also got to see Tam. She showed us about different parts of the body and where our food goes once we have swallowed it. Check out some of the photos:

On Wednesday we do a science experiment and then write about it. We made a volcano with baking soda and vinegar. Look what happens:
